04/24/21 Update from Department of Health (DOH)

JOHNSON & JOHNSON (JANSSEN) COVID-19 VACCINE
Languages available

Spanish | Russian

The Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) COVID-19 vaccine is available for use again in Washington state as of April 24, 2021.

The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) met on April 23 to review data on six reported U.S. cases of a rare type of blood clot, called thrombosis, in individuals after receiving the vaccine. The ACIP voted to reaffirm its recommendation of the J&J COVID-19 vaccine for people 18 years and older.   Safety is the highest priority when it comes to all COVID-19 vaccines.

This move came after the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) paused the use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine starting April 13, following the guidance of the FDA/CDC.

The concern and pause was only associated with the J&J COVID-19 vaccine, not the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines.

For people currently seeking COVID-19 vaccination, three vaccines are authorized for use. If you are concerned about the increased risk of the J&J vaccine, Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are also currently available. The main difference is that they both require two doses to provide full protection, rather than just one. Please use the COVID-19 Vaccine Locator to find and schedule an appointment.

Department of Health (DOH) will continue to monitor the situation related to J&J vaccine and provide updates.

Temporary Pause in the Use of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine

Update: 04/13/21

JOHNSON & JOHNSON (JANSSEN) COVID-19 VACCINE

“The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the US Food and Drug Administration, out of an abundance of caution, is recommending that the United States pause in the use of Johnson & Johnson’s Covid-19 vaccine, after six reported US cases of a “rare and severe” type of blood clot. The six reported cases were among more than 6.8 million doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine administered in the United States. All six cases occurred among women between the ages of 18 and 48, and symptoms occurred 6 to 13 days after vaccination.

Patients who have received the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine within the last 2 weeks should watch for symptoms that include the following:  leg pain or swelling, redness in the calf area, chest pain, severe headache, and/or shortness of breath. Report any of these symptoms to your personal health care provider right away or go to the emergency room if symptoms are severe.  Unless patients are experiencing these symptoms, there is no need to contact their personal health care provider.”

TCCH will continue to update our website to include information on future vaccination clinics and expanded hours.

ABOUT US
About Tri-Cities Community Health
Tri-Cities Community Health (TCCH) is rooted in our community, providing care for almost 40 years. Our Community Health Center began as a modest-sized medical center in Pasco, Washington, in 1981, founded by a small group of women in the Pasco community who saw the need to serve low-income community members who could not afford to pay for health care. In 1990, the center met the requirements to become a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), eligible to obtain grants from federal and state governments to expand services.
Our Mission
With a mission to provide the highest-quality care to the underserved and the means to offer a wealth of services to everyone in the community, regardless of their ability to pay, Tri-Cities Community Health has grown into a network of health centers serving all three Tri-City communities.
Comprehensive Care
TCCH has medical, dental, behavioral medicine, vision and pharmacy providers who treat the entire family.

Our services are highly coordinated and include:
- Case managers who assist medically complex patients by coordinating services such as outpatient, inpatient and long term care.
- Care coordinators who identify potential “gaps” in a patient’s health care and advise patients, to provide seamless care.
- Referral coordinators who assist our patients with access to the specialty care they need.

Very nice clinic, the staff are very generous. My appointment was at 9:30am, I got there 30 min early &  called me in right away. Not 10 min passed and I was already inside and got done with my appointment before 10am. I would highly recommend coming here for any doctor appointments

Several years ago I had a root canal and filling done here.  They did an excellent job!  The staff was also very friendly.  Best of all, this was the most affordable solution for me.  My procedure cost only $75.  I will absolutely go back!!!

By the way, to those complaining about the Spanish… I’m a white dude and had absolutely no complication here.  It should be understood that most of the clientele happens to be Hispanic so this is a no-brainer.  The staff was warm and friendly and very professional (and, yes, they speak English too – lol).  La Clinica is a great place and I highly recommend their services to anyone!!!

Everyone is great , the place is very clean. The problem I have is I am tall and the seats at the dentist office and the urgent care are way to short… I trouble with my hip and it impossible to get up without help.. because they are so short and don’t have backs….

“I wanted to share this photo of my 4 year old daughter Aaliyah, who did an amazing job today with TCCH Dental Hygienist Dora Boge. She is a typical child, who fears the dentist and has not let people work in her mouth. Thank you not only to Dora, but to Dr. Brian Schur and Dental Assistant Maritza Pena. Because of their knowledge and patient, loving care, she allowed them to do an exam and a child cleaning . Just wanted to say thank you to all 3 of them, who make patients like my daughter, extremely comfortable to be in the dental chair and for our children to get their work done.”

I saw Dr. McKay for a foot issue that appeared suddenly and was very painful. He was very courteous and polite, and took me seriously which is really important. I ended up deciding to go a surgical route to resolve the issue and 2 months post op I have no complaints, thank you Dr. McKay!!

Dr. McKay treated my Plantar Fasciitis and really listened to my symptoms and needs. He also looked over my son’s walk and gate as he has low muscle tone and I had ongoing concerns. He was thorough and I could tell he really cared and knew what he was talking about. I’m recommending him to everyone.
